Growing notes
Peggy Martin grows large and needs a strong fence, arbor or trellis. It is regarded as a tough, disease-resistant rose for Southern gardens.
Preparing the bed for a climbing rose
Central Texas ground is often heavy clay or thin soil over limestone. Roses like rich soil: mix a garden soil blend into the planting area. Top the finished bed with 2–3 inches of mulch, kept a few inches off the stems, to hold moisture through summer.
