Growing notes
Dappled willow is thirsty. Hot, dry Central Texas summers can scorch it, so give it afternoon shade, regular water and a thick layer of mulch.
Preparing the bed for dappled willow
Central Texas ground is often heavy clay or thin soil over limestone. Build rich soil with a garden soil blend or topsoil so it holds moisture. Top the finished bed with 2–3 inches of mulch, kept a few inches off the stems, to hold moisture through summer.
