Irish moss: planting guide
Irish moss (Sagina subulata) is a low, cushion-forming groundcover often planted between stepping stones.

Growing notes
Irish moss struggles in hot, dry afternoon sun, so in Central Texas it does better with shade and regular water. It works well between flagstone or pavers.
Preparing the bed for Irish moss
Central Texas ground is often heavy clay or thin soil over limestone. Use a garden soil blend in the joints and pockets where it will grow. Top the finished bed with 2–3 inches of mulch, kept a few inches off the stems, to hold moisture through summer.
